Articulation is delighted to offer a paid performance opportunity with MoonSlide, performing alongside acclaimed artistic duo Suzi Cunningham and Alex McCabe as part of BUFF & SHEEN for the opening parade of the Govanhill International Festival & Carnival (GIFC).
We are seeking 2 performers to join the BUFF & SHEEN ensemble and help bring this joyful, playful and highly visual performance to life. Working alongside the artists, performers will amplify the work’s colourful choreography, smiles, laughter, jumps, babbles and audience interactions as part of one of Glasgow’s most celebrated community events.
BUFF & SHEEN celebrates positive neighbourhoods, solidarity, mutual support and shared joy. We are looking for performers who are confident working in public spaces, enjoy engaging with diverse audiences, and are excited by participatory and outdoor performance.
Fee
£400 total fee (inclusive of rehearsal and performance dates).
Dates & Availability
Applicants must be available for both of the following dates:
Rehearsal
Friday 31 July
10:00am – 3:00pm
Location: Govanhill, Glasgow (venue TBC)
Performance
Saturday 1 August
10:00am – 3:00pm
As part of the Govanhill International Festival & Carnival Opening Parade along Victoria Road, Glasgow.
The parade gathers at 12:30pm at the Queen’s Park Gates (Victoria Road) before processing through the neighbourhood.
Who Should Apply?
We welcome expressions of interest from performers with experience in areas such as:
- Outdoor arts
- Physical theatre
- Dance and movement
- Street theatre
- Circus and participatory performance
- Community-engaged arts practice
We’re looking for performers who are comfortable learning and performing choreography—having a good memory for music and movement, and confidence in learning and retaining a dance routine, will be an advantage in this role. Most importantly, we are looking for performers who can bring energy, warmth, playfulness and a strong sense of connection to this celebratory event.
