Following our Galoshans Festival spotlight from RIG Arts, we’re now passing the mic to Feral Arts, who are lead partners on the event.

A celebration of creativity with community at its heart

Inverclyde’s annual Galoshans Festival is back for its highly anticipated 2024 edition and 10th Birthday! Ready to enchant and entertain the community with a spellbinding blend of art, culture, and Halloween fun. This year’s festival promises to deliver an unforgettable experience for locals and visitors alike, showcasing the rich heritage and vibrant spirit of Inverclyde.

2024 welcomes 10 years of Galoshans Festival which will take place from 17th October – 2nd November, centred around Halloween traditions and its aim is to celebrate the wealth of art and culture that Inverclyde has to offer. The festival will feature a range of events and activities where locals and visitors can immerse themselves in a world of art installations, theatre, street performances, live music and much more. The festival will be rounded off with the return of the beloved Galoshans Street Party, a highlight of the festival, showcasing street bands, live performances and captivating street theatre.

For the 3rd year running, Galoshans Festival will be bringing you a curated takeover from Feral featuring a series of playful performances and curious encounters across the region.  Highlights include:

  • MHz’s STRUT Performance and Projection Parade: a dazzling night-time parade celebrating Inverclyde’s talent through dance, light and projection on the streets of Port Glasgow and Greenock.
  • Animated tales of ghosts, dreams and the supernatural from Paper Cinema. Vivid pen and ink animation, puppetry, and a treasure trove of acoustic and electronic sounds at the Beacon Arts Centre.
  • Meditative film installation This Endless Sea by artist Chloe Smith. An exploration of Grief housed inside a specially designed coastal shelter at James Watt Dock.
  • Strange Loop’s Foraging Workshop and Interactive Performance: An engaging, hands-on experience discovering the hidden beauty of nature through art, music, and technology with Sita Pieraccini and Jamie Wardrop at Inverkip Community Hub.
  • Dumpling Poetry at The Drying Green with artist Sean Wai Keung: An Autumnal dumpling making workshop that is also a poetry reading with stories of food, family and migration.
  • Artist Phoebe McBride brings ‘On becoming a water bat: echoes of an unseen world’ to Greencut Visitor’s Centre in an event that combines short film, a nature walk and printmaking.
  • Oceanallover’s Visual Performance Poetry: Bringing East India Harbour to life with otherworldy performance and spellbinding costume alongside a spectacular 10-metre-tall tower installation as part of the Galoshan’s Street Party.
