I am a Glasgow based performance artist engaging with autobiography, visual and physical theatre, and storytelling. I use devising as a tool to create work that comments on societal structures. As an emerging artist and facilitator, forming relationships with venues and artists is an important part of my practice.

I aim to harness performance to approach difficult topics. I view performance art as a way of approaching stigmas, specifically concerning mental health and societal structures. My practice is about reclaiming space through performance art, conceptualisation and connecting with audiences through emotion. I direct and devise work from various stimuli, including autobiographical content, ideas based from political conversations, devised movement and reimagining well known texts.

I write songs and comedy, which often features in work I make. I am inspired by music and use this as a tool to create visual art and physical theatre communicating a range of ideas and political comments to audiences. I facilitate workshops and participate in performance labs and networking events in the arts community within Glasgow and further afield. I have developed skills in producing and project management over the last few years.

Ruben San Roman Gamez is an experienced Designer/Artist/Maker living in Scotland who has based his own practice on the diversity of roles he has gone through along his professional experience within the Art/Scenic Dept. Working on several types of productions from Opera to Film, Theatre or Advertisement, Music stages, Ballet, Dance, delivering set/scenic workshops and any kind of performative arts and installations. Gaining with the years an overall understanding on how a production gets generated from the early stages to it is set live, something that has made him able to bring his own designs to reality. He has a special predilection for theatre, specifically that Social Theatre for those who are excluded from the mainstream reach. Feeling really committed to environmental/ecological matters, and finding in Music and Nature his biggest forms of inspiration.
In 2023 Ruben got nominated to the best design in Scotland for “The Gift/The Unexpected Gift” Barrowland Ballet, and won the prize to the best children production with the same show by CATS.
Ruben decided to mash all those experiences up and undertake some clown training. Taking inspiration from his bold, raw, visceral, sometimes very naive perception/criticism about the world and human relationships. Something that is becoming a reality when directing or performing along modest but creative, original and honest collaborative projects. One of the main aims in Ruben´s work is making audiences question around social matters, psychological and human nature issues, and the forces driving interaction between individuals, always with a hint of sarcasm/dark humour

I work on the assumption that through art we can articulate our experiences, reflect on them and imagine other possibilities. I strongly believe that this process should be accessible, relatable but can also embrace the non-realistic, highly stylised or abstract.

Sarah Rose Graber is a multidisciplinary theatre maker, performer, and director. She graduated from Northwestern University in the US and trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. Her current shows include Unicorn Dance Party, an interactive dance show led by unicorns; Two in a Barrel, a physical theatre show about the waste we create; and The Refs, a family friendly outdoor show where public spaces are turned into one big game. Graber is a Circumnavigator Scholar having traveled around the world to the US, UK, South Africa, Kenya, Mauritius, Australia, New Zealand, and Argentina researching theatre for social change. She won a Fulbright award to create devised work across the UK, named “One of 15 Women to Watch” in Today’s Chicago Woman Magazine, and shortlisted for the Amazing Women Awards with No.1 Magazine. Her TEDx talk on her research with Serendipity in creative practice has been featured at several events and at universities and she is currently the lead presenter on the YouTube Series, SCOPE, with Imagine Learning. In the UK, she has also worked with Surge, the National Theatre of Scotland, Playwrights’ Studio Scotland, Manipulate Arts, Fuel, Tron, the LIFT festival, Scottish Youth Theatre, Imaginate, Starcatchers, and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The mission of Manipulate Arts is to champion, develop and present brilliant animated film, puppetry and visual theatre in Scotland and internationally.

Formerly known as Puppet Animation Scotland, all of our work is focused around artforms which breathe life into the inanimate or tell stories using primarily images rather than text. Play and manipulation are at the heart of all the work that we champion and support – whether of puppets, objects, digital imagery, or of the human body. We believe that the common thread between these artforms lies in the opportunities they create to discover the latent magic in the everyday, to find common visual languages beyond the reach of words, and to enable play at all stages of our lives.

Jusztina is an Edinburgh based performance artist and director. She has an MA on Theatre Theory and a Diploma in Physical Theatre Practice, as well as over two decades of experience in circus and street theatre. Her work combines the diversity of performing arts: physical theatre, circus, dance, puppetry, visuals, music and clowning. Jusztina has been directing and mentoring multi art form performances internationally since 2002 as well as devising her own work with Scottish circus-theatre company Delighters.

As a performance artist she is passionate about creating work for all audiences, from site specific outdoor theatre to black box theatre shows, work created to audiences of all ages to small scale intimate theatre. Her fire-theatre shows were performed internationally at Festa Del Fuoco di Stromboli (Italy), Earagail Arts Festival (Ireland), Galway Arts Festival (Ireland), Sziget Festival (Hungary). As a freelance performer she works with Scottish companies such as Jabuti Theatre, Rowanbank, Circus Alba and Irish landscape theatre company LUXe on a regular basis. She directed and performed with Festa Del Fuoco Ensemble (I), CircusTheatre Production (H), Firebirds (H), Circonnection, ENCI, and Iron Oxide.

She mentors circus artists as well as curates and produces Scotland’s ongoing circus showcase Cirqulation. The event has been running since early 2018 with sold out performances, and after 2019 have been awarded funding from Creative Scotland and the National Lottery Fund.

Performer and maker Zinnia Oberski has an extensive movement background, predominantly in circus. She uses elements of physical theatre, dance and performance art to break the traditional circus aesthetic of the superhuman and focus on a strength that can only be accessed through vulnerability. Zinnia’s physical work is visceral and hypnotic, speaking directly to the subconscious and the human animal in the language of the body. Zinnia works in a holistic way, treating mind and body as one cohesive entity.

Having come from a background involving hard physical training she looks for balance between strength and softness in both movement and intention – a way of training which challenges the bodymind in a fun and positive way. Zinnia’s creative work is multi-artform and makes use of many different styles and techniques. She takes influence from circus, physical theatre, dance, animal movement, performance art and clown to make authentic work that travels beyond the purely visual. She is currently working on a new clown/bouffon show (FRUITOPIA) and touring her solo aerial show Dreams of the Small Gods in Scandinavia and northern Europe.

Her work is often created from fluorescent materials which glow vividly under ultra violet/black light. She designs the work digitally, before bringing it to life in the physical realm. She is fascinated by geometric shapes, colour and the joy her work can bring to audiences during the colder months.

Her work as a light artist has led to commissions for numerous winter light festivals and special events. She works solo and also frequently collaborates with other artists, designers, technicians and communities. She creates site-specific, one-off installations, as well as sculptures which are designed to tour.

She is based in Edinburgh and works locally, nationally and occasionally internationally.

Frodo is an award-winning Producer, Playwright, and Director. He has over 20 years of experience working across the genres of theatre and circus in the UK and internationally.

As a Producer, he has led projects all over the world from intimate cabarets to big top spectaculars and massive festivals. He has produced touring theatre and circus, nightclubs, awards ceremonies, charity spectaculars, and corporate events. For 3 years, he programmed and managed The Cabaret Tent for Scotland’s largest music festival, T in the Park and was General Manager of Scotland’s best small music festival, The Kelburn Garden Party for 5 years.

He is also an experienced performer and compère with a critically-acclaimed career as an actor and singer in musical theatre and various bands, as well as a long and varied resume in circus, clowning, and comedy.

As an established playwright, Frodo has written and co-written several plays and is currently creating abridged adaptations of the works of Shakespeare as part of his Bard Abridged series which are availble on Amazon.

Aerial Edge has been Glasgow’s circus school since 2007, with professional and recreational classes and courses, training sessions and an act creation/rehearsal space – and of course our fabulous flying trapeze. It’s also a fantastic performance venue and we stage shows throughout the year. Our Pro Track Programmes are set up to allow customised part-time classes and self-training sessions for continuing professional development.

The four-week full-time Circus Intensive and four-month Foundation Course teach a wide range of arts and are designed for people who want to explore their circus potential. Then our One-Year Professional Development Course has been created for those who want to continue to build their skillset with a focus on one or two disciplines. It includes all the supporting classes to develop a well-rounded professional.
There are performance opportunities in all our full-time courses. In the Foundation Course and Professional Development Course, you’ll create and perform a solo/duo act and create an ensemble performance with a professional director.

Circus is for everyone – shape, size, age and experience aren’t barriers. People love the fun and friendly vibe at Aerial Edge, which allows you to explore your potential without fear. Our thriving Youth Circus has a performance pathway as well as student-led sessions where instructors offer guidance on technique while facilitating the freedom to find your own way through movements.

As a not-for-profit Community Interest Company (CIC), we price everything as low as we can so that as many people as possible can find the joy of circus. Youth Circus has a Sponsored Places scheme.

My name is Jideofor Muotune. I’m a multi-platform story teller. I tell stories using projected animated performances, interactive public displays, sound installations and augmented reality. Recently I’ve been exploring the boundaries of immersive theatrical storytelling outdoors which is why I have joined the Articulation Arts network. My creative practice has its roots at the intersection of technology and ‘traditional’ arts, starting as it did with me using computers to make music on the label Soma Records at which I was both a founding artist and director.
